In a short span between the previous edition and this revised one, there have been radical changes in the judicial interpretations. In Harjinder Singh v. Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, it has been held by the Supreme Court that there has been a visible shift in the Courts approach in dealing with cases involving interpretation of social welfare legislation.
Keeping in view the above developments as also the huge amount of caselaw that has come up in the interregnum between the previous edition and the present one, this book has been duly revised and put before the readers for their assessment of the content of the book. The gist of the cases has been given in such a manner that the readers will easily understand the implications of the judgment and make use of it for their own purposes. Keeping in view the radical changes and new judicial interpretations, the readers are advised to enquire and ascertain the changes while applying the provisions of the Act.
